As a graphic designer my work is based in research, and combines well-set typography with engaging aesthetics. After thoroughly investigating the subject matter, I am able to develop a plan to best fit the client’s need. Using pencil and paper, I extensively sketch out a number of ideas. I further develop my ideas on the computer through experimentation and manipulation. I often incorporate hand drawn or painted elements in my designs, stemming from my strong foundation in fine arts. Only after careful refinement is my design ready for its audience.
Elizabeth Bennett, an artist and designer, has been exposed to the arts from an early age. She was born at the Rochester Folk Art Guild, a community of craftsmen in Middlesex, New York, where her father was a glassblower. She began her disciplined exploration into the arts in the fall of 2005, when she was accepted into the Oxbow School, an interdisciplinary semester program located in Napa, California, which combines rigorous studio art practice with academic inquiry. Elizabeth continued her investigation in the visual arts, while also studying painting, printmaking, and art history, at Bennington College, located in Southern Vermont. Elizabeth graduated in June 2010 from Bennington College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts.
After working at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, in North Adams, MA for over a year as the Membership Coordinator and at Anthropologie, in Victor, NY as the Visual Sales Associate and Home Supervisor for over two years, Elizabeth has gone back to school to study design. She is currently taking classes at both Finger Lakes Community College and Monroe Community College in Graphic Design, New Media, and Computer Science. Elizabeth will be to attending the Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall of 2016 as a Visual Communication Design MFA student.
